A helpless single woman living with minor children in her dilapidated home wanted toaffix a strong door to her house. With the help of some social workers, she felled a jack fruit tree, which was planted and nurtured by her own hand , to obtain the timber to make the door. The insensitive forest officials in their Quixotic fervor had the timber confiscated, accusing the poor woman of violating forest laws and causing damage to the environment.
The legal team of KIFA, true to their calling, has taken up this matter and naturally the forest officials are on the defense now.
KIFA believes in empowering through education. The farming community needs to understand their rights and be aware of the encroachments made on them by administrators. This will help them boldly resist when such attempts are made.
